Willie's Peach Pie

The Story:
(as told by Willie and Brenda, December 22, 2007)

Once upon a time, it was a hot summer. It was Mother's (Ruth) birthday which was in July. Willie always knows how to do everything. She has seen Mother fix peach pies all along. It was time for us (Willie and Brenda) to fix Mother something for her birthday. Willie knew how to fix peach pie, she has seen mother do it all the time. We had frozen peaches downstairs, so we had to go downstairs to get the frozen peaches and put them in a bowl. Then we are ready to fix our crust. You get out the flour - you don't really know how much, so get out the whole bag. You are going to mix water with it anyway. The flour sometimes poofs in the air sometimes, and the crust gets sticky like glue. You then add more flour, then add more water. Then you check on those peaches, which aren't thawing out. So pat the peaches (with your sticky fingers). Then to get your stiring things, you have to open all the cabinets (with all the crust bits on your sticky fingers). About this time, check on those darn frozen peaches. This ice stuff just doesn't want to melt. So don't pay attention to those pesky siblings (Brenda), even if they are laughing at you. Tell them YOU KNOW WHAY YOU ARE DOING - YOU'VE SEEN MOM DO IT 100 TIMES.
Now where are the parents? They are out and you really want to surprise them when they get home. About the time you realize the crust is not doing as well as you expected, your sibling (Brenda) abandons you (since she doesn't want to be around when Mom and Dad see this mess). RUN LOCK THE DOOR when you hear your parents voice. Then when your parents say "unlock the door" you (Willie) says "No!".

Willie decides she is fried and the parents are knocking on the door. So Willie takes the crust, throws the frozen peaches on top, then throws it all in the "cold" oven. Apparnety Mom and Dad were "preheating outside". Willie's handprints are all over everything. When Mom and Dad come in, Mom announces to Willie that Willie would be cleaning down the kitchen. Willie says "this was your birthday present" and shows her the pathetic mess inside the oven. The whole kitchen was a pathetic mess. Willie says "they were blown away by the catstrophe".

As told by Willie and Brenda, when Willie was about 8 and when Brenda was about 6.
